Fiction. That isn't just optimism, either. I could point
to the increase of SF syndicated TV shows as an
indicator, but I prefer to look at this at an even
greater way--it is simple demographics. Even great
"adult" science fiction shows of the past (like "The
Twilight Zone") stayed on the air mainly because of
a large audience of young males. Well, the baby
boomers are getting to that age where they may
find SF cool. If this starts to happen (and I argue
this is already beginning) we can look forward to more
and more SF on television and more SF films in production. I think "V" would have a much better chance today than it did when it was on the air.
